We are moving into fall although the weather has tried to fool us into not believing that. However, leafs have begun their change and we have been fortunate to have a little bit of rain. Not much, but some… September was a quiet month as far as Masonic activities in Forbestown. We did have our usual Stated and enjoyed the company of visitors. We love those who come to visit!
With changes coming to our personal household and a temperamental computer - September had no Trestleboard. Today those changes and computer issues still exist. We are busy working and packing and the computer seems to have a desire to go to the shop… However, before sending this computer to the shop I wanted to try to get a facsimile of a newsletter done. I don’t know if I can get it to post to our web page but I do want it to get emailed.
October was a special month for Brother Robert “Bob” Kelley. On October 4th Brother Kelley was presented with the Hiram Award! In typical Forbestown fashion we had our potluck before his presentation.

We enjoyed having Bob’s grand daughter and grandson-in-law and their little ones in attendance. Bob’s son, PM Randy Kelley, was there too of course. We had brethren from North Butte, Oroville, Chico-Leland and Table Mountain in attendance all cherished “family” members some of whom we have not seen in a long time!
Congratulations Bob!
We wish to congratulate any of those who have had a birthday or anniversary during September and October!
Upcoming events…. the one that seems to be on everyone’s mind is…
History Corner…
I have not prepared anything for this portion of the newsletter… hmmm… I’ve observed some of the Brethren of this lodge and how they give 110% to keeping it going. Not an easy job.. I look at some of these gentlemen upon whose shoulders tasks have fallen when it should be their time to sit back and let younger men take the reins, but we don’t have that many younger men either, the jobs are shared. I think of PM Shultz who was Master for aprox 30 years, trying to keep Forbestown alive…. a bit of a record! What dedication goes into keeping a Lodge going. Each and every person is important to our Masonic community.
We’ve had gentlemen who have served in many different positions and serving more than once as Worshipful Master. Rarely do they get a year without serving in any capacity. We have those who have held a position for many years such as Chaplain and Tyler. We have gentlemen that drive from distant towns and fill positions. Each year these dedicated gentlemen add to the continuing history and existence of Forbestown.
Our ladies and some of the gentlemen put on a wonderful potluck and after the men disappear to enjoy their Stated, we ladies enjoy our own meeting. The visiting and topics are varied and so enjoyable. Month after month, year after year, it has been a pleasure getting to know our Masonic family at Forbestown and becoming part of that family and history.
