DUE TO GRAND LODGE EVENTS ON THE FIRST WEEKEND IN OCTOBER, FORBESTOWN'S OCTOBER STATED WILL BE HELD THE 2ND SATURDAY OF THE MONTH WHICH IS OCTOBER 12TH
This is possibly the same night as Oroville Lodge's Casino Night (a wonderful event). I have not yet confirmed this.
Septembers Potluck and Stated were attended by a smaller than usual group. There were those that were away on trips and those on business and then there are those that could not attend due to illness or injury. It seems that there has been a bit of illness, injury and passing among our Masonic family as of late, not just in Forbestown, but district wide.... Our prayers have been with so many of our dear friends and loved ones.
One of the tragedies that has most recently affected members of our Masonic family is the vehicle accident involving Chris, WM Darrel Deatherage's grandson. Chris was recently in an accident near Orland and has suffered a severe spinal injury. Chris is 19. He faces many challenges in his future. I felt it important to post about him as he does need our help and support and that is something the Masonic family does... There is a fund raiser for Chris, some of you may already be aware of it. For those who aren't I am posting this link to his web page where, if you are able, you may take an opportunity to donate. Prayers and good thoughts for him are most important too. This is the link to Chris' web page: http://www.youcaring.com/medical-fundraiser/fight-for-chris/85224

Veterans Wreath Project
We have just a few more project days left to get the wreaths ready for Christmas placement on the graves. All help is greatly appreciated!
Next project day is September 28th at 1 p.m. basement of the Oroville Masonic Lodge. Then again on Oct. 12th and possibly the 26th.. These projects are all squeezed in between regular meetings, upcoming installations, and the usual Sew-N-Sew's project on the first Friday of each month.

History Corner
I have a friend who loves to knock around the hidden corners of Northern California. Sometimes I get the pleasure of going on one of these adventures. Sometimes we hope to get to go somewhere special. Since I belong to the Masonic Family some of the hidden corners involve a side note of Masonry involvement in the history of the little corner we are visiting. Sometimes there is a bit of research done before the trip. In a hoped for future adventure, it was discovered that there used to be a Masonic, California. Some of you may already know this, some may not. Being still fairly new to the Masonic family, most information is new to me!
Where is Masonic California? It is located near Bodie, California. Masonic, like most little towns in Northern California, was a mining town in the hills of what is now Mono County. It was founded by Masons and "was a religious and orderly place by the standards of mining towns -- there were no brothels."
You can view a few photos, such as the one posted here, of what remains of Masonic at this website: Masonic, California photos. or you can view the PDF (download below) from the Mono County Historical Society to read a more detailed history of Masonic.
