We hope your Thanksgiving was pleasant and that you enjoy the upcoming holidays. It is, once again, that busy time of year! I know that our household will be on the run this month as we have so much to do. We attempt to try to not lose sight of the spirit of the holidays in the rush. I try to remember each day to reflect on the good things in our lives and the many things we are blessed with.
One of our blessings is Forbestown Lodge and the Masonic family we belong to, not just our Masonic family at Forbestown, but everywhere! There are so many wonderful loving and giving people in our family! We are all so busy throughout the year trying to brighten the lives of others and do good such as our brothers at North Butte Lodge who put on the Fizz Breakfast this past month to raise scholarship funds. Always a fabulous breakfast! I love the hugs they also give out when you attend! We always feel so welcomed!
There was the Shriner participation in the Veteran's Day parade in Oroville to honor our Veterans and raise awareness of Shriner's Hospital. I loved hearing the kids shout "There they are! There's the cars! There here! There here!". There is always someone who mentions how Shriners stepped into their life and helped them. It's a lot of fun to see not only the smiles on the people's faces, but also the smiles on the drivers! They sure do enjoy those parades!
We also have the ladies organizations of the Masonic family and they do their part to give also. Tomorrow (Friday Dec 1st.) Amapola Chapter #35 Order of the Eastern Star will be doing their part to honor Veterans for the Christmas season. It is the big day to place the four-thousand plus wreaths at the Oroville cemetery. It has become a monumental task and they rely heavily on outside participation to get the job done. If you are interested they will be starting at 10 a.m. Coffee, hot chocolate and donuts are supplied. I think the weather will be beautiful too!
Our young men from DeMolay are collecting non-perishable food to donate to organizations that feed the hungry. We will be bringing our donation to Stated meeting on Saturday in Forbestown.
There are so many ways to give and so many ways to help. Some of us can not do the things we used to do but we can pass the word along. We can invite our friends and family to participate for us and most of all, keeping us in prayers and thoughts means so much. May your month be fulfilling to your soul.

LODGE NEWS
Elections were held during November's Stated meeting. Forbestown is excited that we will be installing, at a future date, first time Worshipful Master Steven Ricketts! We will get the news out when an installation date is chosen. Worshipful Master Randy Kelley will be wrapping up his year. Thank you Worshipful for your time and leadership!
It's that time again. Dues notices have been sent in the mail!
CALLED FROM LABOR
Brother Donald H. Gillett has been called from labor. He was unable to attend lodge these past years due to age and illness. He remained a faithful member of Freemasonry. He was raised in Forbestown Lodge in 1947. Our condolences to his family.
Brother Jim Bruce was called from labor on the 18th of November. He had been an active member until recently. He was a veteran and participated in the Veteran's Day Parade in Oroville in 2015 with his grandchildren. He's been missed and will continue to be missed. Our condolences to his beautiful wife Ruby and their family.

Communications from our Masonic Family
Liberty Chapter DeMolay has been very busy lately. We recently went to a Shriner's event called Nut Cracking. We shelled walnuts for them to sell as a fundraiser. The most recent event Liberty Chapter has gone to was NorCal's Convention. We spent three days in the Hyatt hotel in Burlingame. NorCal preformed the DeMolay degrees and installed new Divisional and Jurisdictional officers which include Robby Boyce as Junior Councilor of NorCal DeMolay and Miles Dees as Divisional Representative for Redwood Empire Division. Liberty's upcoming events are a bowling trip in Yuba City on December 2nd and a canned food drive that will be donated towards a shelter in Marysville*. We are also having a day of comfort at the Cherry Blossom Assisted Living in Yuba City where we will spend some time with the people living there and have fun. We would really appreciate help with gathering non-perishable foods and would love to see many people at our bowling trip.

CELEBRATIONS!
The History Corner
Although the image below is not local it can help us to envision the Christmases of long ago as it could be a scene from St. Louis or Gibsonville, La Porte or even Forbestown.

When I am busy doing research I often do searches in the California Digital Newspaper Collection on line at cdnc.ucr.edu/cgi-bin/cdnc. I really enjoy this web-page. Sometimes I lose track of time searching information and getting caught up in articles. Did you know that in 1870 a member of Forbestown Lodge arrived in Marysville at the hotel Western House 3 days after Christmas? It's just amazing (to me) to know about an activity of someone who is usually only a name in our history.
