We are quite fond of the Ricketts family and enjoy them all attending potluck before Stated Meeting. As with all families the kids grow and things change. David was initiated into DeMolay April 25th at the Yuba Sutter Masonic Center sponsored by Central Sacramento Valley Shrine Club. Jacob and Christopher transferred to Liberty Chapter Order of DeMolay. After initiation these outstanding young men were installed in their new offices:
Chris - 2nd preceptor David - 3rd preceptor Jacob - 4th preceptor Congratulations to Jacob who has graduated from High School and is moving on... We miss seeing him and wish him the best as he moves on in his life. L-R Jacob, David, Chris |
The Lodge is, once again, participating in the local Forbestown Daze parade. The parade starts at noon and encompasses about one block! Short and sweet. You are invited to come up and participate. There are lots of things going on at the Community's park with vendors, etc. The Yuba Feather Historical Association's museum goes all out with gunfighters etc, hanging out in the replica town of Gold Trader Flat.
On a historical note - Our Lodge building is Forbestown's only surviving building from the gold rush era. |
Upcoming Events:
I don't have information on upcoming events at my fingertips. I do know that the local OES chapters have gone dark for July and August. The Lodges continue with their meetings - times and dates can be found through the on-line calendar.

We've had members who regularly attend fall prey to illness. A big thank you to those from other lodges who come to visit, enjoy the potluck and visiting then help fill the chairs when we are shorthanded!
WM John had a rare opportunity to attend a weekday stated at North Butte! It felt good. This past year he has spent most of the time on the job with usually 12 hour days and a commute that totals about 3 hours. He has sorely missed the fellowship that comes from attending other Lodges. We did not realize it would also take so much time to settle in to our new home... I am still working on some things and then we were blessed to have three of our grandchildren come to visit for the summer and boy had we forgotten how it is to have kids around! Keeping us busy! John has picked up a new hobby as he's been blessed to be off on Saturdays. He's become the happy owner of a red mini car and is a member of Chico Shrine Club. He has participated in parades in both Orland and Susanville. His grandkids think it is very cool that their Papa belongs to Shrine. The parades provide a great exposure to Masonry for some of our grandkids. Susanville was a grand time! We arrived early to enjoy a wonderful breakfast served by Jobs Daughters at Lassen-Janesville Lodge No.149. and we had a tour of their grand building. Did you know that Mr. Lassen was a Mason? I am hoping for a return trip to Susanville to tour the historic sites and revisiting Orland. The drive both up to and back from Susanville is beautiful. We took two different routes.. Maybe some day I will be able attend a few of the Star Chapters in the Sierra. I missed out on Susanville as they have had to consolidate with another Chapter and no longer are in Susanville.. |
