Ray is our local author of the Wally Gumper series of books. Wally has had many adventures that were very similar to events in Rays life. Ray's father introduced him to Wally as a young man. When ever Ray's father could not find a item or tool around the house that he needed, Ray's father knew Wally Gumper had been there! |

June Anniversaries

One of the joys of Masonry is getting around to events and meetings from other Lodges & Chapters. We enjoyed a dinner and Stated in Chico the other evening. It was wonderful to see familiar faces and receive warm greetings. We were not the only visitors that evening as Table Mountain was well represented including the attendance of Worshipful Inspector Jim McKasson, PM. It was good to see him and his wife out and about.
Do we have upcoming events? Always!
Officers Association Meeting is May 21st at Chico-Leland Stanford #111
To keep up with Stated meetings from fellow Lodges we have a link to the Calendar where you can find the meetings listed. Along with Lodges in districts #216 & #226, the Shrine Club, York Rite and Butte Commandery are also included in the calendar.

History Corner
|
What will I put in the history corner for this month? Life became a bit busier than I expected and although I have thoughts on whom or what might make a nice little story for the Trestleboard, I did not have the time to fully develop those thoughts into a story. However, a friend mentioned a place of Masonic History that I had no idea existed. It is called the Masonic Caves and is located in the town of Volcano, California. I Googled this and found a few sites.
This link for Amador County had a photo and some info "The Masonic Caves are an eerie, phantasmagorial place once used for secret meetings by pre-charter Masons. The caves are located on different levels and vary in size and shape. Several openings lead into the caves which honeycomb the limestone hill, the one used by the Masons is a little bit larger than the others and is located higher on the hill. The caves were abandoned after five meetings when the Masons moved into their new meeting hall which they shared with the Odd Fellows, which was most likely a bit warmer and dryer." I know Forbestown, after a fire, held Lodge in a reservoir, yet it never dawned on me that other Lodges would have "strange" places to hold their meetings if buildings were unavailable. Another place to add to our list to visit someday! |
