Potluck at 6:30 p.m. bring your appetite
Stated follows at 7:30 p.m.
Where did October go? The time just continues to disappear at an ever increasing rate. I never did get the September Trestleboard emailed, but at least it was here on-line! Too many irons in the fire! Life is only going to get busier over the next couple of months for many of us. Not just with the Holidays, but it is also the beginning of that time of year when all our Lodges and OES Chapters are planning their installations.
There was a nice group from Forbestown that attended our first Installation for the season. We were invited to attend the Installation Of Officers for Liberty Chapter Order of DeMolay held at Corinthian Hammonton Masonic Lodge in Marysville. Chris Ricketts and David Ricketts were both being installed, Chris as Master Councilor and Junior Councilor being David. The boys are very special to us at Forbestown Lodge and are the sons of our Junior Warden Steve Ricketts.
We had a wonderful time and enjoyed the installation. Great group of young men! It is wonderful to see such good young men. Congratulations guys! We are proud of all of you!

Bereavement
Brother Robert Barker was called from labor September 7th. We were very shocked and surprised to receive the news. He had just recently attended the 3rd degree proficiency of his grandson, Brother Dustin Day. He was very proud of Dustin as are all of us. Our condolences to the family of Brother Barker.
Upcoming Events
There has been no news passed along to me, as of yet, of upcoming Installations for our Lodges. Forbestown has not made a date as of yet..

If you have difficulty reading the news article, this is what the first part reads:
A correspondent writing from Forbestown says:
"If you wish to enjoy a treat, such an one as you have never had, secure a conveyance to Forbestown, and on the road and in this vicinity you can see as lovely a region as you ever beheld. The roads are excellent, and free from dust, and the grain fields, vineyards, orchards and forests have on their cleanest dresses, and are redolent with a thousand delicious perfumes..... The article then continues with news of gold as was the big news for the day. What a wonderful introduction to Forbestown. The ride has changed some as roads are paved and rarely "dusty". I don't recall seeing vineyards but do know they existed. We still see orchards both large and small. The dam was not in place and now the drive up the mountain side allows you a great view of the Lake Oroville. Quite the sight. The Lodge has seen so many changes through time. Boom-town to bust. The Lodge still has the feel of gold rush days once you are inside the rock walls. I love the smell inside. Old mountain building smell. Dampness, especially in the winter. The candles lit at the alter, magical. You can easily slip back through the generations and see the miners, lumbermen, mill workers, blacksmiths, farmers, bankers, clerks, ranchers and all who have come and gone through that building. History. Love it!
