From the East
Well my friends November is on us and with it comes the Holiday Season. For the Lodge, November means Officer elections. With the dwindling numbers of members, the officer line is getting even harder to fill, so once again I ask for help from all of our members. Come back to Lodge, help with the line, keep the tradition alive or unfortunately it will cease to exist. |
Octobers Widows Dinner was a great success. The turnout was large, the food was delicious, and the program put on by Liberty Chapter of DeMolay was spectacular. To those of you who made it, thank you for your support. For those of you who could not make it, you don't know what you missed. I hope to see all of you for potluck and Stated Meeting on November 3rd. Until then-

We put on Degrees for Master Masons who have not received their DeMolay Degrees at the Oakland Scottish Rite Center on October 27th and we will also vote on our Jurisdictional Officers. If you haven't purchased your See's Candies yet there is still time, the proceeds from this fundraiser, will send boys from our Chapter to Convention. What is Convention, you ask. Convention is three days at a hotel doing Degrees, banquets, dancing, video games and voting for Divisional Officers and the Installation of Jurisdictional Officers. Thank you for your support. Meetings are the 2nd and 4th Monday at 7:30pm.

Old buildings filled with the past. When you enter an old building, can you feel "the past" in it? I can. When opportunity presents the chance to visit an old place I count it as a wonderful blessing. The feel, the decor, the history... love it!
Well, opportunity doesn't often happen at this point in time and sadly a great many of the old historic buildings are no longer. So, I sometimes wander through the past via the internet. Some times through Face Book you can wander through interesting pages that contain a short history and a wonderful photo of a building of the past. I thought I would post a few of those and let you wander through a bit of history with me. Interesting old places and vanished history of wonderful times past.... |
This postcard (below) of the old Masonic Temple in Chicago was postmarked in 1915. The temple was built in 1892, but when the clock tower was removed from that city's older Board of Trade Building in 1895, this temple became Chicago's tallest building at twenty-one stories, a title it would hold for over 20 years.
