Stated Meeting
Stated meeting was held at it's usual time on Saturday May 7th. We had an enjoyable gathering for potluck. Brother Ricketts surprised each of the ladies with two beautiful roses, one each of peach and yellow, to honor us for Mother's Day! It was wonderful for me to visit with friends after missing the last 3 stated potlucks and the usual lady's visit held while the men are at Stated. Absence does make the heart grow fonder! Absence is also the reason there is no March/April Trestleboard.
I enjoyed seeing so many wonderful people at that potluck gathering! There were those that weren't in attendance and were missed, either they had been called away to other obligations or were absent due to illness and we hope those who were ill are feeling better and that all those who were missed are able to attend come June.

Memorial Day
Observed the last Monday of May and formerly known as Observation Day.
It is tradition to fly the flag of the United States at half mast from dawn until noon.
So many of our Masonic Brothers, in this Nation, have given of themselves and many paying the ultimate price. May we honor those Brothers and the men and women of this wonderful country for their service and thank their families for the sacrifices made.
Birthday Wishes to All for March, April and May!
We don't publish those dates... but you know who you are and we hope your birthdays were wonderful!

The Yuba Feather Historical Association is having it's opening day May 28th. Yes, they have the Museum and Gold Trader Flat ("old west" small town replica) in Forbestown, it is quite the place. Part of the opening day festivities include a Chili Cook off from 11:00 - 1:00. Forbestown Lodge will be represented at the event.
May 21st - Some of us from Amapola will be in the Basement at the OROVILLE TEMPLE working on the wreaths that go out in December on the Veteran's graves here in Oroville. The amount of wreaths has mushroomed to over 4,000 and we sure could use some help to clean, refurbish and repack the wreaths so they are ready to go that 1st Friday in December! We are scheduled to work on them from 1-3 that Saturday afternoon. We would love your help in our work in honor our Veterans! |

Not often enough do I get the chance to look into the past history of Forbestown Lodge which is the lone surviving mountain Lodge on the main gold rush era roads out of Marysville and Oroville heading to La Porte, the location of former Jefferson Lodge No. 97.

about the Past Masters of these other Lodges. You can imagine my surprise when I came across a list with names of some of the Masters and a few photos! WOW! The photos accompanying this little article are of Jefferson Lodge (La Porte) Past Masters. I have come across Dr. Mussey's name in research before, Benjamin Barnes and Mr. McIntosh also... In my travels for Star or other events, I've noticed some of the Lodges that are a consolidation of several old Lodges often honor the Past Masters of the other Lodges they have absorbed. Perhaps it is time to add these Past Masters to my research list.
